Aeschbacher

1923-2020

Arthur Aeschbacher, a famous Swiss painter, is recognized as one of the most innovative artists of poster design, an artistic trend in the 1950s that consisted of using poster fragments to create new works of art.

As a student of Fernand Léger, Aeschbacher took up typography, using this form of expression to create some of his most iconic works. Using scraps of torn posters and scattered fonts, he produces complex and dynamic visual compositions, where words blend harmoniously with graphic aesthetics.

Aeschbacher's work has been exhibited extensively in Switzerland and abroad, drawing the attention of art lovers around the world. In recognition of his talent, he has received numerous awards, including the Grand Prix of the City of Geneva. In 2016, the Institut Français in Mainz opened the exhibition Arthur Aeschbacher — The Last Poster Artist, underlining the artist's lasting influence on contemporary art.
