Chas Laborde (1886 - 1941)

Chas Laborde, cartoonist, painter and poet, is a critical and tender witness to the popular environment of the interwar period. A reporter, in order to live in the “Smile” and illustrator, he allows himself to only exhibit at his friend Charpentier's house and refuses to sell to museums, claiming that “these places are the consecration of dead painters”. Like his friend Pascin, liking to sketch scenes on the spot, he leaves us with the true testimony of an era.
