THE EXHIBITION “WORKS ON PAPER. FROM 1880 TO THE PRESENT DAY” AT THE AB GALLERY
On the occasion of the month of drawing in Paris, Agnès Aittouares invites you to two exhibitions of works on paper by a selection of great artists from the 19th century to the present day.
From 1880 to 1950 Espace Paris IX in the heart of the Quartier Drouot
From 1950 to the present day Espace Paris VI in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district
Buying a work on paper not only allows you to acquire the masterpiece of a great master, when his painting becomes unaffordable, but also to penetrate into the heart of his intimacy. The drawing was originally most often kept in the studio, the true architecture of the creative work. From the beginning of the 20th century, modern art, by focusing on materials and techniques, made it an art in its own right.
Along this chronological journey, you will discover the sensitivity of these artists who, through drawing, reveal to us a creative gesture touching the major currents of modern art, such as the symbolism of Félicien Rops, the intimism of Pierre Bonnard and Édouard Vuillard, the intimism of Pierre Bonnard and Édouard Vuillard, the cubism of Georges Valmier, the cubism of Georges Valmier, the surrealism of Salvador Dalí, the surrealism of Salvador Dalí, the lyrical abstraction of Hans Hartung or the abstract expressionism of Sam Francis.
These two exhibitions are in partnership with the QAD (Quartier Art Drouot) and the Salon du Dessin.
