Auguste Herbin (1882-1960) was a French painter and sculptor, associated with several artistic movements during his career, including Fauvism, Cubism, and Constructivism. Born in Quiévy, France, Herbin started his career as a self-taught painter.
Herbin was initially influenced by Fauvism, a movement characterized by the vivid and expressive use of color. Later, he was attracted to cubism and was associated with the Section d'Or group, a movement of artists who worked in the cubist style.
