Pierre Alechinsky is a Belgian painter and printmaker, born October 19, 1927. It is associated with the CoBrA artistic movement, a group of European artists active in the 1940s and 1950s. The name “CoBrA” comes from the capitals of the cities where some of its members lived: Copenhagen, Brussels, and Amsterdam.
Pierre Alechinsky is known for his eclectic artistic style, combining abstraction and figuration, using bright colors and organic forms.
His work consists of paintings, prints and drawings. He has also collaborated with writers and poets, producing illustrated books.
Pierre Alechinsky's membership in the CoBrA movement contributed to his reputation. This movement was known for its commitment to abstract expressionism and its rejection of established artistic conventions.
