À propos de cette oeuvre

Born in 1899, Albert Bertalan is a Franco-Hungarian painter.

A student of Jenő Körmendi-Frim, Károly Kernstok, Béla Iványi-Grünwald, István Réti and Adolf Fényes, in Hungary, he arrived in Paris in 1924 where he attended the courses of the Julian Academy. He quickly became friends with Nicolas Czinober, another Hungarian painter who arrived in Paris the same year, and became a member of the Association of New Artists, an association of Hungarian artists founded by the painter and teacher János Vaszary in 1923.

In Paris, Bertalan participated in several group exhibitions, such as the Salon des Independants between 1926 and 1930, the Salon d'Automne in 1926 and the Salon des Tuileries in 1930. Personal exhibitions are also dedicated to him, such as in 1925 at the Bernheim-Jeune Gallery in Paris and in 2011 at the Hamza Museum and Jász Gallery in Jászberény, Hungary.

His works are now preserved at the Oise Departmental Museum in Beauvais, at the National Institute of Art History (INHA) in Paris, at the Janus Pannonius Museum in Pécs and at the Hamza Museum in Jászberény.
